Visit Forks, Washington & Stay at Misty Valley Inn
Where Twilight Was Filmed
Have you heard of Forks, Washington? It’s the rainiest town in the contiguous US where the Twilight Movie Series was filmed!
Forks was the small logging town where we made base camp (2 night stay) during our weekend exploring the Olympic Peninsula. If you were a fan of the Twilight movies, watch for the cheesy signs and fun photo opps, including the “Treaty Line” for the werewolves and vampires. You can see Forks High School, too!
Surprisingly, it’s much smaller than anticipated and lacks higher-end hotels and restaurants. But it’s a unique little town movie fans won’t want to miss, ESPECIALLY if you know where to stay.
This was our basecamp for day-trips. We highly recommend staying at the Misty Valley Inn B&B (we found them on AirBnB), newly renovated and run by the sweetest couple from Arizona who wanted a life change. Beautiful views, delicious home-cooked breakfast (included in the cost), use of a community refrigerator, and top-notch mattresses all made this bed and breakfast memorable.
We couldn’t stop sampling their included dessert bar (cookies, cupcakes, lemon bars, etc) all baked fresh daily. SUPER DELICIOUS!
Their to-go coffee bar and closet of rain gear was super convenient. The communal living room area had couches with a TV, movies, and board games, plus dining options inside or outside on the patio overlooking the scenic Olympic forest valley. Nothing beats a morning cup of coffee and fluffy pancakes overlooking that misty valley!
All of their rooms are themed, adorable, cozy, and – best of all – a good price. Their guest closet provides umbrellas, boots, and some hiking gear for those in need. While winding down for bed, the magnificently illustrated “Good Faeries” book by Brian Froud kept us entertained. Our first night in the Irish Suite even had a fireplace! Next, we upgraded to the Dutch suite with a personal balcony overlooking the “misty valley.”
What to do in Forks?
From scenic drives to hiking, visiting the Olympic Peninsula is awe-inspiring. Many must-see destinations are in day-trip distance from Forks, including these:
- We received advice from our hosts on the best hiking trails for our Hoh Rainforest visit (read our post here about this unparalleled World Heritage Site).
- We also rode e-bikes to the infamous but hard-to-reach Olympic Hot Springs, the all-natural gem that was the highlight of our trip. More on how to find the spring can be found in an upcoming post!
Seriously… we can’t say enough good things about Misty Valley Inn B&B. Don’t forget to sign the Misty Valley Inn guestbook, along with people from all over the country and even internationally! Many who stay are here for vampire festivals, to go flyfishing, hike, or admire Olympic National Park.
