Our Buc-ee’s experience
the largest convenience store/travel stop in the world!
Raise your beaver tail if you’ve ever been to the largest convenience store in the world…We’re talking Buc-ee’s, the massive chain of gas stations/convenience stores/travel stops!
On our latest road trip with Evelyn and Luke and I’s mothers, we stopped at Buc-ee’s along I-75 in Georgia for “the cleanest restrooms in America.” We came out with Beaver Nuggets (caramel corn nuggets), roasted peanuts, fudge, and jerky. Other stranger items included a fun magnet for Evee’s room, fresh coffee with plant-based creamer, and more impulse-buy goodies that we are too ashamed to mention.
Pro tip: Buc-ee’s is also a great spot for ice for nursing mothers with coolers.
Next time, we are trying their decadent BBQ brisket fresh-to-order sandwiches and a Dr. Pepper and Big Red Icee. (Did you know Buc-ee’s is the ONLY place you can find those Icee flavors?)
Buc-ee's History Lesson:
The 1st Buc-ee’s opened in 1982 by Arch “Beaver” Aplin III in Lake Jackson, Texas. It was a whopping 3,000 square feet! Inspired by Aplin’s nickname, Beaver, and his lab, Buck, the mascot was a no-brainer. After teaming up with Don Wasek, the chain now has a cult-like following. They are known for their immaculate restrooms, amusement-park-like atmosphere, and private label merchandise.
As of a 2022 Southern Living article, Buc-ee’s has 34 stores total across the US. Now, the self-proclaimed “Disney of convenience stores” is one our 2.5-month-old Evelyn won’t soon forget…Time to cross more off her bucket list!
