Gust Brothers Pumpkin Farm
A fall destination in southern Michigan north of Toledo
Open daily from September through October, their generous hours allow nearly any visitor time to explore, realize how much they love the richness of the fall season, and turn you into a self-proclaimed #PumpkinSpiceLover (OK, maybe not pumpkin spice, but the same “I love autumn so much I could die” flair is there). That said, we’d still recommend checking their website for the latest information, operating hours, and special deals. Currently, they don’t charge an entry fee, which is plain awesome for those of us on a budget.
With fresh apple cider and donuts, Indian corn and gourds, hayrides, pick-your-own flower bouquets, a petting zoo, and much more, this pumpkin farm will make you lose your mind… trust us – we had the same question you will undoubtedly have when you walk in: HOW have we not been here before? It’s much larger than you think but can be tackled in a few short hours, depending on how much you want to do, look, and purchase. Located in Ottawa Lake, Michigan (a short drive north of Toledo), this pumpkin and sunflower farm offers real fall decor, organic yummy food, local artisan products, and wild honey so sweet you’ll want to buy an extra jar for Christmas presents! With soy candles and Amish jams and jellies to boot, you can kill two birds with one stone here, crossing off the ideal “fall experience” while simultaneously “Christmas shopping.”
**Notes and suggestions for your visit: Their baked goods are every bit as mouth-watering as Krispy Kreme (dare we say if not better. Two days later, we wished we had bought another dozen!). The cider donuts are 100% WORTH IT (try both the glazed and sugar-coated, as you can order a dozen with half/half for around $10). Don’t be ashamed if you don’t know what a cider donut is… neither did we. Read the lowdown here. If you have a choice of cider by the gallon (around $7.50), choose the Mac Queens variety (we asked an employee and that was her vote). If you want pumpkins, they are more affordable if you venture out into the field. Last but not least… you won’t regret grabbing a cute little wagon to pull along your goodies! It’s a large farm after all, and the wagons go fast on weekends! P.S. – Don’t forget to take a selfie with the giant cow by the road.
