I’m BEYOND grateful to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (affectionately known as NRECA) for being featured in the nationwide RE Magazine Spotlight (read more about RE here) for my recent mountain climbing expeditions, including Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest mountain at 19,341-foot-elevation) in Tanzania. As an all-in, geeky cooperative employee working in the industry, the cooperative model — owned by those who use its services and dedicated to serving its community — runs deep in my veins.
My father works in the electric cooperative business, and I followed suit. The older I became, the more I realized how meaningful this work could be. Yes, it’s just THAT good of a not-for-profit business model!
You could say I’m a co-op girl through and through, and I’ll never back down from that statement. In this Q&A, my love for my career and for mountain climbing both shine through. Climbing Kilimanjaro in 2016, followed by Ireland’s Slieve League in 2017, Yosemite’s Mist Trail and Sequoia National Park’s Moro Rock in 2018, then Iceland’s volcanoes and craters in 2019… and finally, Japan hiking with my hubby is next this November!
OK, you’ve waited long enough for the link…
